The Brief

The client was keen to transform her small, dark kitchen into a more spacious, bright kitchen diner where she could entertain and spend time with her family. Knocking a dividing wall through between the original kitchen and dining room opened up the space.  Opting for the Shaker Broadoak Alabaster design she wanted to keep the room quite simple in its style, yet inviting.  Teaming oak timber on the worktop of the breakfast bar adds instant warmth to the scheme and co-ordinates with the flooring.

Designer's Tips

This is a great example of a multi-functional island where a mix of surfacing materials has been used to differentiate between the prep and dining zones. The island also is perfect for creating plenty of extra storage, with a mix drawers and cabinets.
