The Brief
The clients wanted to update their kitchen and decided an open-plan kitchen dining scheme would suit their way of living. Having extended the rear of their home some years earlier, the arrangement no longer worked for them and so they completely reconfigured the downstairs, removing internal walls, setting the scene for their new kitchen. The light-filled space is now enhanced with the elegant mix of partridge grey and charcoal-painted Broadoak Shaker cabinetry complemented by the white quartz worktops. It’s also exactly what the clients had wished for in terms of its welcoming and sociable ambience.
Designer's Tips
The practical aspects of the design are very well considered. The bank of tall units incorporate an integrated fridge freezer, oven, combination microwave and warming drawer. There’s also a handy larder unit that’s cleverly divided internally to create room for an ironing board and shelving. In addition the island includes plenty of drawers and storage, plus the induction hob and downdraft extractor.
