The clients, a retired professional couple, wanted to create more space and light in their kitchen so decided to knock through two rooms to achieve this. Being passionate cooks, with a flair for international cuisine, it was important that the layout was ergonomic and practical. The designer recommended an island, which not only creates more function to the design but is also a great focal point for socialising. The mix of Broadoak Partridge Grey and Charcoal cabinetry creates an elegant yet timeless scheme.
The island creates an excellent food preparation area but also acts as a soft divide between the cook and the diners. Storage, for the vast array of ingredients and cooking utensils, was vital and a major consideration of the layout. The clients particularly love the clever Le Mans system that has really improved access in the corner cupboard.
