The Brief
The kitchen hadn’t been updated since the house was built ( circa 2000) and the clients wanted to create a large open-plan living area that would better suit their lifestyle. They knocked through to the dining room to achieve this. Inzo gloss almond doors were chosen to create a light, modern environment in which to cook, socialise and relax. A breakfast bar, opposite the utility room, was replaced with a tall bank of units incorporating the fridge/freezer on one side, a tall larder on the other with a central area for the eye-level slide and hide oven, microwave and storage above and below.
Designer's Tips
To inject a contrast to the interior a lime green splash back and bold green painted facing wall were chosen, adding a striking dash of colour and complementing the existing soft furnishings. The peninsular now provides informal seating and creates a natural divide between the kitchen and casual living area.
