The clients had remodeled their home, removing one of the original kitchen walls and adding a garden room extension, to make room for the size and layout of their new open-plan kitchen. Their original kitchen was a U-shape with very little prep space and limited storage so the brief was for more usable worktops and lots of storage, coupled with a sociable island. They chose the Milbourne range in a mix of alabaster and stone to create a timeless aesthetic.
The island is surfaced in natural timber and has an overhang to create ample leg room and space for the stools to easily slot underneath when not in use. The main run of units has granite worktops which create a beautiful contrast in the scheme. Wall cabinets are kept to the tall bank of units with the appliance tower, which creates plenty of storage and allows the other wall to feature simple shelving to make the room feel more open. The open shelving on the island is just the place to keep recipe books to hand.
