The clients previous kitchen was small and old fashioned and didn’t meet the demands of their growing family. By removing an internal wall they were able to create a larger space. Whilst they wanted the kitchen be modern, it also had to be timeless so the Milton in-frame design, in a mix of contemporary grey and charcoal delivers exactly the look they had in mind. Teamed with lightly-toned granite and iroko timber on the island the look is elegant yet with a modern edge.
The layout is key to the success of the design, incorporating a peninsular with a seating area for 4, as well as a separate island for preparation. Improved storage was a priority and the design includes two generous pull-out larders which provide easy access to ingredients and provisions. As the room is a key living space in the home the designer recommended under-counter lighting which softens the ambience at night.
