The clients, a mature couple, had recently moved to an extended and modernised bungalow. The kitchen was therefore a blank canvas, giving the couple ‘carte blanche’ to create their dream design. The key areas of the brief included a place to sit within the kitchen, leaving an area in which to relax. They also wanted to maximise the worksurface available, whilst incorporating the required appliances which were to blend into the scheme rather than being a stand-out feature. This has all been achieved with their choice of cabinetry, Porter Alabaster creating the light and airy feel they desired.
The designer recommended Corian solid surface for the worktops to create a seamless effect, giving an overall impression of a large surface area. A stud wall was built to incorporate the appliances in to housings, so they were recessed and less conspicuous.
