The brief from the client was to create a modern design but one that enhanced the sense of space in this relatively small kitchen. Porter Beige was chosen over white or alabaster as it’s a softer, more natural tone but is still light enough to keep the room airy. The mix of red and beige plus the high diner-style bistro table and stool adds a retro feel to the design as well as a practical and useful place to sit.
When working with a compact kitchen it’s important to make the best use of every inch of space. Corner sinks and taps are a great way to do this, making the corner a practical working area. Lighting is a great trick of the trade to make a small space feel much larger and is very effective in this design with plinth lighting and under-cabinet illumination.
