Kitchen style used

The Brief

The original kitchen was small, dark and old-fashioned and a new extension created a fabulous open-plan living space that was then designed to suit the clients' lifestyle.  Opting for a mix of Porter White and ebony-effect cabinetry the look is very modern, crisp and fresh but is very much the centre for relaxing and socialising in this busy family home. The island creates a great hub for the family to gather and there’s plenty of worksurface and storage.

Designer's Tips

A new extension creates the luxury of working from a blank canvas, so always consider maximising natural light to create an airy ambience.  This room benefits from large sliding bi-fold doors, which open up to the garden, and the lightly-toned ceiling, wall and floor coverings enhance the open and spacious feel.
