The Brief
The clients began the extension project to open up space and create more light. To achieve this, the designer recommended removing the alcoves and stone walls to make the most of the space, as well as folding doors and a skypod being added to maximize light in the room. The clients wanted a modern-styled kitchen that wouldn’t jar with the Victorian architecture of their home, so they opted for the simply-styled Remo Gloss in an alabaster finish.
Designer's Tips
The ceiling in the property is low so to enhance the sense of space light-toned quartz worktops were chosen and illuminated open shelving also added to the airy feel. While the client’s wanted to increase the overall kitchen space whilst retaining a snug area for relaxing hence the peninsular which marks the end of the kitchen. A wood burning stove was installed in the snug.
