A relocated boiler was the impetus for a new kitchen, and once the clients had decided to go ahead a key element of their brief was to maximise the overall light and the feeling of space within the galley kitchen. The crisp lines of the handleless Remo Gloss White range was selected along with a contrasting quartz worktop, with feature LED ‘uplighting’ providing a dramatic lighting effect. Other design requirements included increasing the storage capacity and creating more usable worktop space, as well as a breakfast bar height seating area for the cook’s assistant!
Whilst the design options were slightly limited by the room layout, by relocating the integrated fridge freezer and the hob position, a tall bank along one wall was created, including a tandem larder, eye-level double oven and a built in fridge freezer. This not only increased the storage capacity but also opened up the room by keeping all the taller units together. The dark grey quartz worktops provide a great contrast to the gloss white doors, and as demonstrated here can be used as a coordinated splash back behind the sink and the window sill.
