The client wanted a kitchen that created great visual impact coupled with maximum function. The designer created a scheme with contemporary lines and using a mix of materials the brief has certainly been achieved. Aside from the clients being delighted with the look and feel of the design, they particularly like how the main cooking and prep space is located on the island, with room for a feature breakfast bar.
The key with a contemporary kitchen is simplicity. In this design, the handleless doors, in matt white, keep the lines sleek and pure. Blending quartz and wenge timber worktops, at 2 heights, defines the seating area and keeps it distinct from the main prep and cooking zone, whilst still being socially interactive. An accent colour can be added to a scheme with a glass splashback, in this design the soft blue tone delivers a contrast that’s easy on the eye and doesn’t jar with the sophisticated colour and material palette.
